Waymarking’s recent studies enhance understanding of making maps #1

My recent studies are continuing to enhance my understanding and interest in mapping and mapmaking (see previous blog posts: June 2010, Jan 2012, July 2014).

Following the urban design principles I’ve been taught on the MSC Urban Regeneration and Development at University of Manchester, I’ve been producing maps of various sites in Greater Manchester. It’s still very much a learning process – but an enjoyable one.

These two figure ground based maps of the neighbourhood around Navigation Road train and tram station, in Trafford. The first map is of the area in the 1890s and the second is contemporary, they aim to show the historical development of the area.
