David Irle works for Reseau en Scene, a performing arts development agency for the Languedoc-Roussillon region in France.
He gave a presentation as part of Nothing ventured…nothing gained, the 2 day seminar programme I set up which shared models and approaches to international exchange, bringing curators and practitioners from across Europe to meet with curators, programmers, producers, academics, practitioners from the Yorkshire region (Bradford, Leeds and Sheffield) in June.
David contextualised the ways that the performing arts operates in France. And presented examples of international exchanges that Reseau en Scene has supported, which have been about the value of:
- Two cultural organisations from different contexts learning from each other
- Mutual empowerment through international exchange
Significantly he described how the cultural field is seeing the value of co-operation over competition in the current harsh climate for the arts across Europe.
