Socially engaged practice meets placemaking, community, urban and economic development

Ellen Holleman and I have hit the ground running on our collaborative residency – Waarde in de Wijk / Value in the Neighbourhood.

Our residency has developed in the direction of addressing issues of socially engaged practice alongside practical and theoretical research drawn from literature on placemaking, community, urban and economic development. We’re working with local people and producing images, audio and video footage, maps and info graphics.

Our Value in the Neighbourhood seminar takes place on Tues 26th Feb, and brings artists, urban designers, architects, urban developers and cultural producers from the Nederlands and the UK together to discuss and work together on value, place-capital, asset mapping and resilient neighbourhoods. There are 3 UK participants excluding myself; Alison Andrews, Sue Ball and Katie Hill.

What else?

I’ve also been spending some time investigating notions of ‘exchange’ in relation to language (Nederlands and English) and movement patterns in relation to cycling.
