Ellen Holleman and I made a presentation which suggested an ‘open source place-making*’ approach to regeneration in the area of St Denis. We felt that a range of community development approaches would be successful in a partnership between local creative groups such as Le6B (www.le6B.org), Cochenko (www.cochenko.fr), local people, community organisations and professional facilitators and urban designers such as Waymarking (www.waymarking.org.uk) and Islant (www.islant.nl).
These partnerships would stimulate mutually beneficial relationships between new community’s government regeneration area, the current communities in St Denis and the arts and creative communities at Le6B. We proposed developing a ground-up framework for new initiatives supporting and entrepreneurship, alternative economies – such as micro-finance, co-operatives and time-banking.
