On the second day of my visit to Den Haag, Sue (Ball) and I gave a presentation on Leeds Creative Timebank at the Time / Bank Symposium, as part of the wider Stroom programme ‘There, I fixed It’.
The other speakers were extremely thought-provoking.
- Killian Wawoe – who outlined how the state of the banking industry created the catalyst for the global financial crisis.
- Mark Fisher – author of ‘Capitalist Realism: Is there no alternative?’ (2009), describing his thinking around capitalism’s fatal flaws, exposed by the global financial crisis.
- Anton Vidokle – co-director of E-Flux (http://www.e-flux.com/timebank/) describing his Time / Bank and Time / Store projects in the US, inEurope and online – launching the new Time/Store at Stroom, Den Haag.
These 3 presentations were invaluable in helping me consolidate my thinking around Leeds Creative Timebank, as an alternative economy.
